A Little Bit of History
In 1816, Uniontown was named for the “Union” of two stagecoach lines which met near the town’s original site. A church, school, tavern, a tannery, and two stores had cropped up by the 1830s, and a post office was established in 1920. The Industrial Excess Landfill, declared a superfund site in 1984, is located south of Uniontown.
